As our Instagram page hits 80,000 followers, we reflect on the journey of how @jackandollie has evolved from a mother sharing photos of her kids, to a brand with a loyal following, website, shop and endless possibilities. Yes, you read that correctly, Jack & Ollie is now a "brand", and haters gonna hate - but if managed well, securely and with forward-thinking, this adventure can reap benefits and opportunities that could last a lifetime.
It all started when my Mother asked me if I knew about little Pixie Curtis, PR Queen Roxy Jacenko's little girl. My answer was nuh. I wasn't new to Instagram, but I definitely wasn't using it, or even considered using it for professional purposes. Anywho, I did a little googling, a little investigating on this Pixie Curtis chick, and was amazed at what was going on! Here was a little girl, earning money for her future university/sports car fund, and all her mother was doing, was posting pictures on Instagram! I looked at Jack, and his big green eyes, cute as a button nose and thick mop of hair and thought - well, let's give it a go.
