It all started when my Mother asked me if I knew about little Pixie Curtis, PR Queen Roxy Jacenko's little girl. My answer was nuh. I wasn't new to Instagram, but I definitely wasn't using it, or even considered using it for professional purposes. Anywho, I did a little googling, a little investigating on this Pixie Curtis chick, and was amazed at what was going on! Here was a little girl, earning money for her future university/sports car fund, and all her mother was doing, was posting pictures on Instagram! I looked at Jack, and his big green eyes, cute as a button nose and thick mop of hair and thought - well, let's give it a go.
@Jacksonbreen was born in March 2014 after he was short-listed in the iconic Australian Bonds Baby Search Competition, and that was the perfect inspiration for me to make the most of this crazy idea! None of my friends or family were embracing the Instagram baby/kids shopping world, so I had a lot of research to do!
I started like any Gen-Y kid... wanting maximum results, YESTERDAY, with minimum effort. I downloaded apps left, right and centre, posted a bazillion pics with crappy, non-sensical captions, and still couldn't understand why I wasn't attracting millions of followers or why fashion designers and stores around the globe weren't noticing us. I decided to take a step back, clean up our profile and started taking particular interest in the quality of my followers, where they were coming from, and what time of day they would see me.
Our first ah-ha moment came when Australian accessories brand, Foxy Fellow contacted us. In exchange for some stock from their newly created business, all we had to do was post some pictures and mention who we were wearing on our Instagram page - then sitting around 7,000 followers. What an ego boost! I was finally doing something right! We were noticed by BuzzFeed as one of "25 Cooler Kids than You", some other "kids fashion" inspiration Instagram pages, and most importantly, more brands and stores!
I caught onto the whole new world of "brand representatives, influencers and loop giveaways, and was hooked. This Instagram world for kids fashion and blogging was revealing its potential and I wanted in! Suddenly I was over 20,000 followers, Jack was about to start school and Ollie started getting curious, so @jackandollie was born.
To be fair, it took me a while to reign in my little experiments and research to finally master the art of attracting a whole world and range of followers. Over and over again, I was getting asked about how I was "doing it", so to make it simple and easy - I was going to put pen to paper, and get it written down. My book began as a little essay, and the more ideas and points that kept coming into my head, the longer it got.
"A Step-by-Step Guide to InstaSuccess" was designed and printed and I could not be prouder of myself. It's just one of those things that I think a lot of people say they are going to do, and never get around to starting or finishing it. I talked to a lot of people about this book, before it was written, and now after, and people are finally seeing results from MY own theory! The system works!
This manual is valuable for anyone who is in my shoes. Anyone who wants to start an Instagram blog. Anyone who owns a business and wants to increase their customer base. Anyone who just simply wants to get attention. Whether your goals range from earning some extra coin, to becoming a little online celebrity or someone who simply loves photography and wants to show off their skills, this book is a great read for some ideas that you might not be aware of yet.
It details how to set up your page, online security hints and tricks, must-have apps, and most importantly, how to FIND your audience. I heard that a social media consultant can demand upwards of $150 per hour for building business pages on social media platforms, so consider this theory, a hard-cover, 24-hour, go-to guide for Instgram that only has a one-off payment that you can refer back to over and over again.
This book is subject to Australian Copyright Laws, is printed in English only, and is written based on my iPhone and iPad experience. The apps used can also be found in the Android store as well. It does not come in electronic form.
